RCVS alerts practices to bogus telephone calls

The RCVS has issued an alert to all veterinary practices to be on their guard against a bogus telephone caller claiming to work for the college while requesting practice information.

The College said: ‘In the past few weeks, we have been informed of a number of telephone calls to veterinary practices from someone calling themselves Lauren, and saying there has been a loss of data at the College and that they need the practice’s information to rebuild the system.

Please note this is false and not a genuine telephone call.

The RCVS added: ‘We would ask any practices that receive this telephone call to inform us at the earliest opportunity.

‘The College would never ask for practice, personal or other details (including bank details) over the telephone and our information is securely backed up to prevent any data loss.’

If you receive a telephone call of this nature, email RCVS Director of Operations Corrie McCann on c.mccann@rcvs.org.uk or telephone 020 7202 0724.
