Recall on two batches of cattle antimicrobial

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has issued a product defect alert on two batches of Framomycin 150mg/ml solution for injection.

In a statement, the directorate said: “We wish to make wholesaler dealers aware the VMD has been notified two batches of Framomycin 150mg/ml solution for injection – marketing authorisation number Vm 12501/14106 are being recalled with immediate effect.

The reason for the recall is these batches have an incorrect expiry date printed on the carton and vial label.

The affected batches of the product, indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial mastitis in beef and dairy cattle, are:

  • G1211-02
  • G3823-02

No other batches are affected, said the VMD. Wholesalers are advised to immediately quarantine any units of this product and contact Elanco so collection can be arranged.
