Registers and Accreditation
VetSkill SQP Register
VetSkill is authorised by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) as a regulatory body to maintain a register for Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) to prescribe and supply veterinary medicines classified as POM-VPS and NFA-VPS.
The VetSkill Register of qualified microchip implanters lists individuals who have been awarded the VetSkill Level 3 Award in Implantation of Identification Microchips in Animals qualification. This qualification has been approved by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The Register states the species of animal that the candidate has been practically assessed as competent to microchip.
SQP HEI Accreditation
There is an increasing need for Higher Educational Institutes to set themselves apart from their competitors and give their graduates that added extra. A competitive undergraduate market means that less students are going to university ‘for the experience’ and, instead, are looking for real employability skills when choosing where, and what, to study. There is now the possibility to embed the SQP requirements into existing relevant degrees.
