VetSkill launches VetSkill VTEC Level 2 Certificate in Assisting Veterinary Surgeons in Monitoring Anaesthetised and Sedated Companion Animals
Our qualifications portfolio is growing! VetSkill is excited to share the launch of the VetSkill VTEC Level 2 Certificate in Assisting Veterinary Surgeons in Monitoring Anaesthetised and Sedated Companion Animals.
This new addition has been designed for learners whose role includes assisting Veterinary Surgeons in the care of companion animals undergoing sedation or anaesthesia. Learners studying this qualification will be working within a veterinary care environment, holding either employed or voluntary positions.
Reflecting on this new development, Leanne Ashford, Qualifications Manager at VetSkill, comments:
“This contemporary and robust provision perfectly complements VetSkill's existing suite of regulated qualifications that provide training and development for veterinary support staff. This qualification will help to further recognise and reward those involved in this essential role, supporting the wider veterinary team.”
The units contained within this exciting new qualification have been rigorously developed to include the essentials for working within the sector legally, professionally and ethically, whilst supporting the development of theoretical knowledge, complemented by the necessary practical skills and techniques.
Veterinary practice employers are experiencing an increasing demand to provide assistance to the veterinary surgeon with the monitoring of companion animal patients undergoing sedation or anaesthesia. Evidence of suitable training must be provided if the team member assisting with the monitoring of anaesthesia is not a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), and this new VetSkill qualification ensures that lay people providing such assistance possess a good degree of competence and understanding.
This qualification is now available for approved VetSkill centres to deliver.
