RCVS accredit in full new VetSkill VTEC Veterinary Nursing Diploma qualifications
The RCVS has awarded full five-year accreditation to VetSkill’s new VTEC Veterinary Nursing Diplomas, confirming that VetSkill has met all six standards of the RCVS Standards Framework for Veterinary Nursing Education and Training with only one action included across the whole report.
VetSkill received commendations from the RCVS panel for its commitment to promoting sustainability, integration of wellbeing across all standards, robust assessment strategies with evidence-based methods embedded throughout each stage of the programme, embracement of advanced technology, and the use of automated systems. VetSkill is proud to be commended for its organisational ethos, which looks to achieve positive working environments through prioritisation of health, wellbeing and support of staff development in all areas.
Whilst the new qualifications are based on the highly successful existing VetSkill veterinary nursing qualifications, there are enhancements that benefit both learners and employers choosing to follow the VetSkill approach. The new qualifications build on developing veterinary nurses with a holistic approach to their work, a passion for making the difference to the lives of the patients in their care, and a robust understanding of their professional responsibilities.
Sam Double, Chief Executive Officer of VetSkill, commented, “To receive such extensive commendations from the RCVS means a lot to all of us here at VetSkill and I am very proud to lead such an inspirational team”.
She added, “I am particularly excited that a change to the programme means that all students successfully completing the qualification will now be automatically entered onto VetSkill’s SQP Register and that by doing so we have created a robust pathway for the future role of Nurse Prescriber and future opportunities for skills development and enhanced competence by progressing learners onto our Advanced Veterinary Nursing qualifications. I would like to personally thank those involved in providing extensive feedback during the development stage and those who participated in the RCVS review. Finally, I wish to highlight the standard of excellence that our learners, employers and training providers deliver that earns the RCVS recognition that they rightly deserve.”
