Sustainability
Our mission
VetSkill recognises that the health of our business is intrinsically linked to the health of the planet and the communities in which we operate. As part of our ongoing commitment to responsible business practices, we are dedicated to embedding sustainability into every aspect of our operations.
We believe that by minimising our environmental impact and promoting social responsibility, we can drive positive change, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to the global transition towards a more sustainable future.
Through continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration, we aim to lead by example, setting ambitious goals to reduce our carbon footprint, optimise resource use and support sustainable development.
This statement demonstrates our continued commitment to integrating sustainability as a foundational principle across our organisational culture and the way we engage with our wider community.
We are also acutely aware that sustainability and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are closely interconnected, and we invite you to learn more about this aspect of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) by visiting our EDI page.
How we make an impact:
Sustainability requires ongoing effort and a willingness to evolve. To help steer this work, we’ve set up the VetSkill Sustainability Committee, which meets bi-monthly to champion greener ways of working across our organisation. Additionally, we…
…work with local catering providers for all events and ensure vegetarian and vegan choices are always available.
…prioritise environmental sustainability during practical assessments by reducing consumables needed within tasks, donating unused bandaging materials, and recycling soft plastic through MYGroup. Learn more.
…source all event materials sustainably, with careful consideration given to limiting single-use plastics and unnecessary waste.
…offer an electric vehicle charging point for staff use (50% of company vehicles are electric) and bike racks to promote cycling to work at Head Office.
…use digital resources across all departments to reduce paper consumption, including online examinations, forms, surveys and resources, unless an alternative format is required as a reasonable adjustment.
…hold professional discussions and staff meetings virtually where possible to reduce travel, and encourage staff to use public or shared transport when attending events in person.
Partnership with MYGroup
VetSkill is proud to partner with MYGroup, a pioneering UK-based waste-management and closed-loop recycling service. MYGroup specialises in transforming hard‑to‑recycle materials - including soft plastics - into new, durable products, preventing valuable resources from ending up in landfill.
Through this partnership, we ensure that the soft plastics generated during our practical assessments and office activities are collected and sent to MYGroup’s advanced recycling facilities.
