VetSkill expands into assessor training with new qualifications suite

VetSkill is pleased to announce the launch of a new suite of Level 3 assessor qualifications, marking the organisation’s expansion into assessor training for the Further Education (FE) sector.

The introduction of this suite of qualifications represents a natural next step for VetSkill as a multi-sector awarding organisation. The suite has been developed to support individuals entering or progressing within assessment roles, and maintains VetSkill’s rigorous approach to quality assurance.

The new suite currently comprises:

The VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in the Principles and Practices of Assessment has been designed for learners who wish to expand their underpinning knowledge and understanding in the principles and practices of assessment for the FE sector.

This qualification has been rigorously developed to include the essential theoretical knowledge and understanding necessary to work within an assessor role.

Those who wish to pursue a career as a qualified assessor and be able to make autonomous assessment decisions regarding a learner’s vocational competence/practical skills will be required to progress onto the VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Competence.

The VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Competence qualification has been designed for learners who wish to work as qualified assessors. The qualification contains the essential theoretical knowledge and understanding and the necessary practical skills required to make autonomous assessment decisions.

Both qualifications are ideal for learners who are exploring a future career as a qualified assessor, those working within FE, or individuals in mentoring and coaching roles who support learners through assessment processes.

Leanne Ashford, Qualifications Manager at VetSkill, comments:

“This innovative new suite of qualifications embraces the essentials for working within the current climate of Further Education (FE) as an assessor, and supports learners to make valid, fair and reliable assessment decisions. I am certain these qualifications will be of huge value to many of our stakeholders who work within FE and also support the development of those who currently work as mentors and coaches”.

These qualifications are now available for approved VetSkill centres to deliver.
