VetSkill OSCE assessors come together for annual standardisation event

This September, we were delighted to welcome VetSkill OSCE assessors to another standardisation session held at VetSkill Head Office.

Led by Practical Examinations Lead Emma Dubeke and Lead Assessor Phillipa Cunningham, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the past 12 months and celebrate the accomplishments of VetSkill and our dedicated team of contractors as well as standardise OSCE tasks and introduce new marking technology.

Discussions included:

  • Initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of OSCEs.

  • A thoughtful exploration of civility in the workplace, highlighting how low-intensity negative behaviours can affect team dynamics and performance.

  • VetSkill’s new automated marking system, designed to enhance consistency and efficiency in practical assessments.

The afternoon focused on hands-on engagement, with assessors trialling a selection of OSCE tasks and offering valuable feedback to support ongoing refinement and quality assurance.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ assessor award, which was awarded to Jane Cottrell (pictured below) in recognition of her outstanding commitment and dedication.

Congratulations Jane, and a huge thank you to our whole team of OSCE assessors for their hard work over the past year supporting candidates during their all-important assessments.
