The Level 2 Administration Assistant apprenticeship is designed for individuals working in administrative support roles across a wide range of sectors and industries.
Administration Assistants support organisational operations through a range of administrative activities. They use digital systems and software to manage information, communicate with stakeholders, support meetings and events, maintain records and contribute to the efficient running of their organisation.
Throughout the apprenticeship, apprentices develop the knowledge and skills required to work effectively within an administrative environment, including professionalism, compliance, information and data security, and effective communication.
To support preparation for Apprenticeship Assessment (AA), VetSkill provides:
· an Apprenticeship Assessment Handbook, covering assessment methods, preparation, requirement checklists, guidance and what to expect;
· the ST1472 Administration Assistant Apprenticeship Assessment Specification;
· a Portfolio Mapping Document;
· an Apprenticeship Assessment planning meeting with a VetSkill assessor; and
· regular training provider information sessions.

Under the VetSkill Partnership model, the Portfolio is assessed and marked by a VetSkill approved centre and externally quality assured by VetSkill. Assessment Method 2, either the Interview or Presentation with Questions and Answers (Q&A), is assessed and marked directly by VetSkill.

Under the VetSkill Inclusive model, VetSkill assesses and marks both the Portfolio and Assessment Method 2, providing a fully managed assessment service.

Choose the VetSkill Assessment Model That Works For You

The Portfolio provides workplace evidence demonstrating how the apprentice has applied their knowledge and skills through normal working activities.
The Portfolio must contain a range of relevant workplace evidence and demonstrate the required Assessment Outcomes.
Under VetSkill Partnership, the Portfolio is assessed and marked by the approved centre and externally quality assured by VetSkill. Under VetSkill Inclusive, the Portfolio is assessed and marked directly by VetSkill.
Evidence: No more than 20 pieces of workplace evidence
Submission: Electronic submission through the VetSkill assessment platform
Grade: Fail / Pass / Distinction

The apprentice selects one of the following assessment options:
Option A: Interview
The Interview enables the apprentice to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through structured questioning with a VetSkill assessor.
The Interview consists of a minimum of ten (10) standardised, open questions. Supplementary questions may be asked where required to clarify or extend responses and support valid assessment decisions.
The Interview is assessed and marked directly by VetSkill.
Duration: 50 minutes
Location: Remote or face-to-face in a suitable, private and controlled assessment environment. Microsoft Teams is used as standard for remote assessment
Grade: Fail / Pass / Distinction
Option B: Presentation with Questions and Answers (Q&A)
The Presentation with Questions and Answers (Q&A) enables the apprentice to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through a presentation based on selected work activities undertaken during their apprenticeship.
Following the presentation, a VetSkill assessor will ask questions informed by the evidence demonstrated during the presentation to ensure sufficient assessment of the allocated Assessment Outcomes. Supplementary questions may be asked where necessary to clarify or extend a response.
The Presentation with Questions and Answers (Q&A) is assessed and marked directly by VetSkill.
Duration: 40 minutes, typically comprising a 20 to 25 minute presentation followed by 15 to 20 minutes of questions
Submission: The presentation must be submitted to VetSkill at least two weeks before the assessment date
Location: Remote or face-to-face in a suitable, private and controlled assessment environment. Microsoft Teams is used as standard for remote assessment
Grade: Fail / Pass / Distinction
