The development of this qualification has been stakeholder led and is primarily designed for learners who have not yet achieved a GCSE at grades 9 to 4 (or A* to C) in a science subject, or equivalent programme, who may wish to pursue a career as a Registered Veterinary Nurse or Registered Farrier. Learners may also use this qualification as a progression route to study Level 3 programmes such as animal management, animal care or welfare, equine management, equine science or care.
The units within this Ofqual-regulated qualification have been rigorously developed to include the essentials for supporting the development of theoretical knowledge that underpins animal anatomy and physiology.
Throughout the qualification, learners will gain the knowledge required to appropriately use common anatomical and physiological terminology, identify animal cells and tissues, and recognise the structure and functions of body cavities and systems.
This Level 2 Award has 26 guided learning hours (GLH) with a total qualification time (TQT) of 68 hours.
