This qualification is designed for those working in veterinary practice, in a veterinary care supporting role.
It is intended to provide relevant practical skills and underpinning knowledge that will enable learners to provide a good level of support to the Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Surgeon. Furthermore, it may be used as a stepping stone onto the VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Companion Animal) qualification, subject to additional entry conditions being met.
On completion of this qualification, the learner will achieve the following units:
Legislation and Safe Working Practices
Animal Health and Welfare
Animal Environment and Accommodation
Introduction to Patient Care
Introduction to Animal Anatomy and Physiology
Veterinary Care Support
This Level 2 Certificate has 240 guided learning hours (GLH) and takes approximately 12 months to achieve with a total qualification time (TQT) of 840 hours.

There are no formal or specific academic or learning entry requirements for learners undertaking this programme. This qualification is designed for those working in veterinary practice, in a veterinary care supporting role.

The learner will gather evidence to create a portfolio to achieve this qualification. The portfolio can be electronic or paper-based - VetSkill has no preference.
