The development of the VetSkill VTEC Diploma in Dog Grooming SCQF Level 7 has been employer led, with its contemporary design and content reflecting the advancing needs of stylists working in the sector.

This regulated qualification is aimed at those who wish to expand their underpinning knowledge and practical skills applied within their role. It is ideal for learners currently working within the dog grooming sector, holding either employed or voluntary positions, or for those seeking future employment opportunities within the dog grooming sector. The units within this qualification have been rigorously developed to include the essentials for working as a dog groomer within the sector whilst supporting the development of theoretical knowledge and the necessary practical skills.

Throughout this qualification, learners will gain the knowledge and skills required to groom, style and finish a range of dog breeds with various coat types. Learners will successfully adapt to the individual needs of the dog and customer and will cover all aspects of the grooming and styling process.

This Level 7 Diploma offers 36 credits.

  • Learners must have achieved a regulated SCQF Level 5 dog grooming qualification to register on this programme. The nature of the learning and assessment requires basic literacy and numeracy skills. This qualification is available to learners 16 years of age and over.

  • Portfolio of Evidence

    Throughout the qualification, learners will compile a portfolio of practical and written evidence to demonstrate practical competency and underpinning knowledge and understanding. This is assessed and internally quality assured by the centre, and externally quality assured by VetSkill.

    Multiple-Choice Online Examinations

    There is one synoptic online multiple-choice examination that assesses underpinning knowledge and understanding. Examinations are set and marked by VetSkill.
